    The Bauerwehr, also known as Rugger, is a historical European weapon originating in the late Middle Ages and Renaissance. It was primarily used by peasants and common folk, featuring a single-edged blade typically ranging from 30 to 60 cm. Known for its practicality, the Bauerwehr had a broad, flat blade suitable for cutting and chopping, and a distinctive “Nagel” hand guard for protection. It served both as a weapon and a tool for daily tasks. Its simple, robust design made it affordable and effective for self-defense.
